Deborah (ages 10-12)
Intro. to American Sign Language (to include art) or Spanish
ASL (($5 art fee))
Students will learn American Sign Language through games, songs, and activities. They will touch on the history, culture, and deaf art. Students will find it fascinating to learn how this visual language can be used to tell stories through handshapes and how this visual language connects to various aspects of visual art.
Spanish
This introduction to Spanish class will give the students fundamental awareness of the Hispanic culture, language, and basic vocabulary.

Physical Education
Both boys and girls will have the opportunity to develop teamwork skills by participating in various group activities, including basic fitness exercises, group sports, and games.
Choir, Drama or Guitar I (choose one)
Choir
This class aims to help students build confidence in their singing voice and develop the ability to perform a diverse range of music. Through this course, students will also develop a greater love and appreciation for music.
Dramatic Arts
Throughout the semester, students will learn dramatic techniques through various activities such as sketches, games, and exercises. These skills will be showcased in both individual and group performances during the end-of-semester program.
Guitar I (Fall enrollment only - NOT accepting spring enrollment for this course)
This guitar course is designed for beginners and covers the fundamentals of fingerings, strum patterns, guitar care, and maintenance. No prior experience with guitar or music is required. Students need to bring their own instruments, but assistance with tuning and strings will be provided. At the end of the semester, students will perform together as a group.

This course provides an introduction to the basics of physical geography, which will cover topics such as mapping, the earth's physical features, and culture.

Cooking ($15 materials fee)
Cooking class is a long-standing tradition at CHEER! Deborah and Esther students can sign up for this after-lunch course and learn basic food preparation and kitchen safety skills as they prepare dishes from every part of the menu. Students cap off their year by taking a field trip to The Painted Teacup, a local tea house, which is financed by a student run bake sale. Enrollment limited to 6 students.
